Modern Classic Barbershop & Shave Parlor
A premium barbershop running its booking on Square and its product catalog on Shopify — but with a custom-designed front end that doesn't look like either platform's template. Designed to Elevate built the brand hub around the in-shop experience and made the path to a booked appointment as smooth as the cuts.
A premium shop with its brand split across Square, Shopify, and a stale website.
Modern Classic was already running a high-quality operation in Zanesville — clean cuts, traditional shave service, in-shop product retail, loyal regulars. But online, the brand was fragmented. Booking lived on a generic Square page that looked like every other Square shop. Products lived on Shopify. The website that tied it together didn't match the in-shop quality at all.
The shop needed a presence that matched the craft — and that made the booking flow as easy as scrolling through Instagram.
Use Square + Shopify behind the scenes. Use a real brand hub up front.
Most barbershops on Square accept whatever the platform's default booking page looks like. Designed to Elevate built a custom Astro front end on top of Square's booking and payment APIs — meaning customers see a beautiful, branded site, while Square handles the actual booking, calendar, and payment flow under the hood.
Same approach for product: Shopify handles inventory, payments, and fulfillment. The customer sees the products living naturally inside the shop's brand, not on a Shopify storefront.
On top of those integrations, the build added a custom layer: an auto-review SMS triggered after appointments, a waitlist that auto-invites customers when openings appear, and a customer login that remembers preferred barber and lets parents add kids to book with.
A premium brand experience that matches the quality of the in-shop service.
The shop now has a digital presence that actually represents the work. New customers find Modern Classic on Google, land on a site that signals "this is a real, premium operation," and book without friction. Regulars use the customer login to rebook with the same barber in two taps.
Most shops on Square never get a site that looks like this. The platforms doing the heavy lifting (Square + Shopify) stay invisible to the customer — which is exactly the point.
